About Tetris.now

Tetris.now is a free home for the falling-block game so many of us grew up on. Open the page and a fresh well is already waiting, no download to sit through and no account to create. Our mission is plain: keep every Tetris mode fast, fair, and free to play on any device, from a laptop at work to a phone on the bus.

We built this site because a lot of Tetris pages online feel slow, cluttered, or locked behind sign-up walls. Ours loads straight into a game, remembers your best times in your own browser, and treats every player the same whether they are chasing a first line clear or a sub-minute Sprint. That is the whole idea, and it will always be free.

Why we built Tetris.now

We are a small independent team that loves stacking blocks a little too much. We wanted a version of Tetris that respects your time and your attention: one that opens instantly, plays smoothly with keyboard or touch, and never buries the well under pop-ups. Start with Marathon, the endless classic, or jump into a quick Sprint when you only have a minute. Whatever you pick, it opens in seconds and stays out of your way.

Everything you can play here

Eleven distinct modes share one clean engine, so the controls feel identical no matter which you choose:

  • Eleven full modes. Endless Marathon and Zen, timed Sprint and Ultra, brutal Master and Invisible, plus Cheese, Survival, Classic, Big, and Cascade.
  • Real multiplayer races. Line up beside a friend on live boards and trade garbage in our multiplayer rooms. Very few free sites let you race head to head like this.
  • A shared daily challenge. One seeded well per day, identical for everyone, so you can compare times and build a streak on the leaderboard.
  • An arcade look that stays calm. A deep navy well, the seven bright tetromino colors, and nothing flashing for your attention while you play.

How our seeded shuffles stay fair

Every mode uses the seven-bag randomizer, which deals all seven pieces in a shuffled order before the next seven arrive, so you never get starved of an I-piece or flooded with S and Z. For the daily challenge and multiplayer, that shuffle is driven by a fixed seed, which means the pieces are random but repeatable. Two players in the same race face the exact same order, and everyone on a given day gets the same well. You can read how each mode works in plain English on the rules hub.

The promises we keep

We hold ourselves to a short, honest set of standards:

  • Genuinely free. Every mode, the daily, the leaderboard, and multiplayer cost nothing, with no paywalls hiding a single feature.
  • Real guideline rules. Our spins, kicks, hold, and scoring follow modern Tetris conventions, so the skills you build here carry over anywhere you play.
  • Honest competition. Seeded deals and server-checked results keep the leaderboard about skill, not luck or tricks.
  • Privacy-respecting. Your stats live in your own browser, we never sell data, and we spell out exactly what we store in our privacy policy.

Common questions about Tetris.now

Is Tetris.now free?

Yes. Every one of the eleven modes, the daily challenge, the leaderboard, and real-time multiplayer are free to play in your browser, with no download and no signup. An optional free account only adds cross-device stats and a saved name.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. Tetris.now runs entirely in your web browser on desktop, tablet, and phone. You can add it to your home screen so it opens full-screen like an app, but there is nothing to install and nothing to update.

Is Tetris.now safe to use?

Yes. The site uses HTTPS, never sells personal data, and lets you play everything as a guest. Your best times and high scores are saved in your own browser, not on a server, unless you choose to sign in and sync them across devices.

What makes Tetris.now different from other Tetris sites?

Alongside eleven distinct modes, from Marathon and Sprint to Cheese and Invisible, Tetris.now offers real-time multiplayer: you and a friend race live on separate boards, sending garbage back and forth. Very few free Tetris sites have head-to-head play.
