Privacy Policy
Tetris.now is built to be played, not to profile you. You can enjoy all eleven modes, the daily challenge, the leaderboard, and multiplayer without ever creating an account, and your best times and high scores stay in your own browser on your own device. We collect only what we genuinely need to run the game, we never sell your data, and you stay in control of anything tied to an optional account.
This policy explains, in plain language, what information touches our servers, what stays on your device, how our cookies work, and the choices you have. It takes effect in July 2026 and applies to everything at tetris.now.
1. What lands in your browser and what reaches us
Your stats in local storage
Your best times, high scores, streaks, saved settings, and any game in progress are written to your browser's local storage. This information stays on your device and never reaches us unless you sign in and choose to sync it. Clearing your browser data erases it for good.
Your optional account
Accounts are entirely optional. You can sign in with Google, or create an account with an email address, a username you pick, and a password we store only as a secure hash, never as plain text. An account is what lets us sync your stats across devices, save daily-challenge streaks, and show your name on the leaderboard.
Your competitive results
When you finish a daily challenge, a multiplayer race, or a ranked run while signed in, we record the score, the number of pieces placed, and the completion time. These results power the leaderboard and your personal history, and we check them so the rankings stay honest.
Messages you send us
If you write to us through the contact form, we keep the name, email address, subject, and message you provide, purely so we can read your note and reply.
Basic server logs
Like nearly every website, our servers keep short-lived logs of IP addresses, browser type, and request times for security and performance. These logs are held only for a limited period and are not used to build a profile of any player.
2. How we put that information to work
- Running the eleven modes, optional accounts, and the leaderboard
- Keeping daily challenges and multiplayer races fair and in sync
- Reading and answering messages sent through the contact form
- Spotting cheating so leaderboard scores stay legitimate
- Diagnosing bugs and keeping the game fast
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we never sell it to anyone.
3. Session cookies, and no ad trackers
We set a small session cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we ever use privacy-respecting analytics, the figures are aggregated to understand which modes are popular and never used to identify you. Our cookie policy has the full breakdown.
4. Who else can see your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We share it only in two narrow situations:
- Trusted providers: The hosting and email services that run the site on our behalf, and Google if you choose to sign in with it
- Legal duty: Where we are required to by applicable law or valid legal process
5. How long we hold on to things
Account data stays while your account is active. If you delete your account, the results attached to it are anonymized rather than removed, so the leaderboard remains accurate. Contact messages are kept only as long as it takes to handle your enquiry. Anything in your browser's local storage is entirely under your control and never expires on our side.
6. The choices and rights you have
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, or delete the personal data tied to your account, or to object to how it is processed. The simplest way to exercise any of these is to reach us through the contact form, and you can always keep playing as a guest with no personal data at all.
7. Younger players
Tetris.now is friendly for all ages, but accounts are meant for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly gather personal data from children under 13, and playing without an account needs no personal data whatsoever.
8. Keeping your account secure
Every connection uses HTTPS, passwords are stored as secure hashes, and all form submissions carry cross-site request forgery protection. We take sensible steps to guard your data, though no online service can promise perfect security.
9. Updates to this policy
We may revise this policy over time. When we make a meaningful change, we update the effective date at the top of this page and, where it matters, notify registered players by email. Continuing to use Tetris.now after that date means you accept the updated policy.
