Tetris.now runs on almost no cookies at all. We do not load advertising networks, we do not plant tracking pixels, and we do not follow you around the web. The one small cookie we rely on simply keeps you signed in and protects the forms on the site, and everything about your gameplay lives in your own browser rather than on a server.
This page explains, without the jargon, exactly what we store, the difference between a cookie and browser local storage, and how you can clear or block either one. It takes effect in July 2026 and covers all of tetris.now.
The one cookie we rely on
Essential session cookie
When you sign in or send a form such as the contact form, we set a small session cookie. It keeps you logged in from page to page and blocks cross-site request forgery on submissions. Accounts and forms cannot work without it, and it disappears when you sign out or your session ends.
Local storage, which is not a cookie
Your best times, high scores, streaks, saved settings, and any game in progress are written to your browser's local storage on your own device. This never leaves your browser unless you sign in and choose to sync it, and clearing your browser data wipes it. It is not sent to us with every page like a cookie would be.
Aggregate analytics
If we ever use privacy-respecting analytics, it is only to see which modes are popular in aggregate. Those numbers cannot identify you, we do not sell them, and you can read more in our privacy policy.
What you will never find here
- No third-party advertising cookies.
- No cross-site tracking pixels or fingerprinting scripts.
- No selling or sharing of your personal data.
Turning cookies off
You can clear or block cookies from your browser settings whenever you like. Blocking the essential session cookie means sign-in and forms will stop working, but you can still play every mode as a guest with no account needed. Any questions? Reach us through the contact page.
